Custom domains

Every workspace’s default site is served at yourusername.sitepaste.com with no setup. On the Pro plan you can connect your own domain, so your site is reachable at an address you own, such as example.com.

Pro includes one custom domain; you can purchase more if you run several sites. Each domain points at one site, and you can move a domain between sites later.

Connecting a domain

From the Domains page in the dashboard:

  1. Add your domain. Adding example.com covers www.example.com as well, since they are set up as a pair.
  2. Verify ownership. Add the TXT record shown in the dashboard (_sitepaste-verify.example.com) at your DNS provider, then click “Verify ownership”.
  3. Point your DNS. Add a CNAME record from your domain to cname.sitepaste.com, then click “Check status”. Some DNS providers do not allow a CNAME on a bare domain like example.com; the dashboard shows what to do for your setup.

DNS changes can take a little while to propagate. Once they have, your site is served at your domain.

HTTPS

Your custom domain is served over HTTPS with a certificate Sitepaste manages for you. There is nothing to install or renew.

The default address keeps working

Connecting a custom domain does not remove the yourusername.sitepaste.com address for your default site. It keeps working, which is handy while your domain’s DNS is still propagating.
